You can change the password to your Kindle Fire from the Security Settings menu on the device if you know the current password. However, if you have forgotten your passcode, you will need to perform a factory reset to restore original settings to the device. Once factory settings are restored, re-register your device with your Amazon credentials and sync your device with your account to restore your downloaded items. You will need to reinstall any apps you installed prior to the reset.
Change Passcode
Step 1
Tap the “Quick Settings” icon from the Kindle Fire home screen, and then tap “More.” Additional settings menu options are displayed. You can also tap the “Settings” icon in the Kindle home screen, and then tap “More” to view the additional options.
Step 2
Tap the “Security” option to open the Security Settings menu.
Step 3
If your e-mail provider allows you to synchronize calendar and contact information, E-mail application will automatically synchronize with the Calendar and Contacts to your kindle Fire. To configure an e-mail: Stand on the Home screen of your device, click Applications, and then click E-mail. Enter your e-mail and click.
Tap the “Lock Screen Password” option to open the Lock Screen Password screen.
Step 4
Type the existing password in the password prompt, enter the new password in the New Password field, and then re-enter it in the Confirm field.
Tap “Finish” to save the new password. The password is now required when you power on the device or wake the device out of Sleep mode.
Reset Device
Step 1
Press the “Power” key to wake the Kindle from Sleep mode. The Password prompt displays.
Step 2
Type your best guess at the password into the Password input box. Retype password guesses a total of four times. After the fourth incorrect password entry, the Reset dialog box opens asking if you would like to reset the Kindle Fire.
Step 3
Tap “OK Reset” to reset the device to original factory settings.
Connect the Kindle Fire to a wireless network and re-register the device with your Amazon account.

I have a Kindle Fire 8.9 and the same thing happened to me within the last week. It was set up with server eas.outlook.com with the 443 port. I was able to see the emails already in there but nothing in the past week.
I removed the account and tried to read it. It first asked my email address, then my password, then it goes through and checks the server settings and comes back 'Unable to connect to server'. I go to the Advanced settings and now it shows the server m.hotmail.com with the same port 443. I even tried changing it to IMAP and using the setting my Hotmail shows when I use my Desktop and go to Settings.
When we try to add an account it wants us to either set it up as a POP, IMAP, or Exchange. It does not allow us to just have our email address and password. It grays out the Next button and will not let you continue unless you select one of the POP, IMAP, or Exchange options and it wants a server name.
Please provide the exact process I need to follow in order to add a new Outlook/Hotmail email account to my Kindle.
Thanks,
Deborah James
